“Little Drummer Boy” - Duvall (feat. members of The Smoking Popes)
This is my favorite “pop” (as opposed to hymnodic) Christmas song. This is a pretty cool version but still doesn’t match Joan Jett’s cover. I gotta find that.

her:
I just have to select this 2000 line spreadsheet... [tries to select it all with her mouse]
-
me:
Control A.

her:
[still trying to select it all with her mouse]

Control A to select all.

her:
[still trying to select it all with her mouse]
-
me:
Seriously, this is going to take for ever to select all that... You can just type Control A.
-
her:
Oh, look it goes a little faster if you jiggle the mouse cursor around at the bottom.
-
me:
[head hits table]
-
her:
Are you ok?
-
me:
You didn't let go of the mouse button, did you?

“The rule: whenever you bring in an item, you have to throw away two other items. First you cheat, by throwing out two pieces of paper, but soon you will have to move to big stuff.”
“Subprime mortgages are a problem but they are not the cause of the collapse. The collapse was caused by an OPEC generated precipitous rise in oil prices. Subprime mortgage buyers could no longer pay their mortgages because too much of their pay check had to go to pay for gasoline.”
“He who sedulously attends, pointedly asks, calmly speaks, coolly answers, and ceases when he has no more to say, is in possession of some of the best requisites of man.”
“People have generally three epochs in their confidence in man. In the first they believe him to be everything that is good, and they are lavish with their friendship and confidence. In the next, they have had experience, which has smitten down their confidence, and they then have to be careful not to mistrust every one, and to put the worst construction upon everything. Later in life, they learn that the greater number of men have much more good in them than bad, and that even when there is cause to blame, there is more reason to pity than condemn; and then a spirit of confidence again awakens within them.”
“Trust him little who praises all, him less who censures all, and him least who is indifferent about all.”
LAVATER
I don’t know who this Lavater guy is but I seem to like his quotes.
“This is the greatest library in human history, run by volunteers, and its purpose and utility depends on the people who post old TV commercials to YouTube, not the people who comment on YouTube.”
Sorry for the flurry of quotes here. I’ve had a stack of bookmarks that I haven’t had a chance to post lately and I wanted to push that awesome video off the front page where it annoyingly insists on auto-playing. (Seriously, though, you should go watch it again. It’s awesome.)

“My dear American neighbours, I see the political crisis in Canada has finally made it into the Washington Post’s Foreign Briefs column. So, anticipating a flood of interest from all of you at the dog run in the morning, let me try to give you some idea of what’s happening up there.”
